Dr Alexandra Kotlar is a New Zealand born dentist with a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Otago. She began her career as a Dental and Maxillofacial House Officer at Waikato Hospital before moving to Australia, where she spent over a decade in both public and private general practice.
During this time, Dr Alex developed a strong clinical interest in paediatrics, myofunctional orthodontics, tongue tie release and laser dentistry. Her training includes programs from the Myofunctional Research Company, the Coulson Institute under speech pathologist Sandra Coulson, the Tongue Tie Institute, Tufts University in Paediatric Tongue and Lip Ties, the Tufts Dental Sleep Medicine Mini Residency, and the Breathe Institute Functional Frenuloplasty Course. She is an Associate Fellow of the World Clinical Laser Institute and completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Dentofacial Orthodontics and Orthopaedics after advanced orthodontic training in Australia and Spain.
Dr Alex now limits her clinical practice to early intervention myofunctional therapy and orthodontics, along with laser treatment of lip and tongue ties for all ages. She is known for her collaborative and holistic approach, working closely with other health professionals to support airway and functional outcomes. A committed lifelong learner, she continues to pursue advanced education to provide the highest standard of care for her patients.
